The Japanese motorcycle maker, Yamaha is planning to add yet another 150cc product to its current portfolio. Yamaha MT 15 will be launching in the Indian market by next year and chances are good that it will be based on the current R15 V3.0 bike sharing similar engine and chassis platform. The MT 15 will mark an entry as the first small capacity MT series motorcycle in the Indian market, and following the response, Yamaha might plan various other big capacity MTs including the MT 03 and the MT 07.
The 2019 MT 15 motorcycle will run on the same 155cc single cylinder, air cooled engine as seen on the current R15 motorcycle delivering 19.3hp and 15Nm of peak torque. The engine will also feature the VVA technology as seen on its faired sibling. Also, the 6-speed transmission will be carried on from the same bike.
The international spec MT 15 showcased at the Thailand motor show packed upside-down fork but the Indian spec, on the other hand, might feature the traditional telescopic fork. The bike will also feature ABS as a standard safety equipment. When launched, it will lock horns with bikes such as the Apache RTR 2004V and Pulsar NS200. Stay tuned as we bring you more details on the same.
