If there is one vehicle right now that is garnering all the media attention, it has to be the upcoming Kia Seltos. While the compact SUV was unveiled in India on June 20, it will be launched here on August 22. But much before the formal introduction takes place, every move of Kia Motors is being closely monitored. A few days back we had told our readers that Seltos will soon be displayed at the showrooms. Now, media reports are claiming that the maiden Seltos units for customers will be rolled off on July 31 from the carmakers production facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
Kia Seltos bookings commenced on July 16 for a token amount of Rs 25,000. On the very first day, the carmaker received 6,046 bookings for the compact SUV. The upcoming vehicle can be booked at Kia Motors 206 sales points across the country and through the official website. Seltos will be available in Tech Line and GT Line trims. The Tech Line trim will be divided into five variants. The GT Line trim will have three variants. The compact SUV will be available in eight monotone and five dual-tone colour options.
There will be three engine options to choose from in Kia Seltos a 1.4litre Turbo GDI petrol engine producing 140 hp and 242 Nm of torque, a 1.5-litre petrol mill making 115 hp and 144 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre diesel motor churning out 115 hp and 250 Nm of torque. There is a standard 6-speed manual gearbox. The automatic options include 7-speed DCT, CVT and 6-speed torque converter. For more details you can refer to our first drive of Kia Seltos prototype. The mileage figures of the upcoming compact SUV will reportedly range between 16.1 kmpl and 20.8 kmpl.
One of the major talking points about Kia Seltos has been its price. We are expecting it to hover in the range of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). The major rival of Seltos will be Hyundai Creta. Other competitors include Renault Captur, Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and the recently-launched MG Hector.
Kia Seltos will have features like tiger-nose front grille, LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, LED taillights and dual exhaust pipes. The cabin gets features like 10.25-inch touchscreen audio video navigation system with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, 8-inch HUD (Heads Up Display), cruise control, blind-spot view monitor, eco coating and push-button start/stop.
